【JASTIP-News】 JSPS Alumni Association of Indonesia Inauguration ceremony
On 9th March, Dr. Takagi and Mr.Kobayashi (Japan Science and Technology Agency:JST) attended Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Alumni Association of Indonesia [JAAI] Inauguration ceremony hosted by the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) and JSPS Bangkok Office, at Century Park Hotel, Senayan Jakarta, Indonesia.
The objectives of JAAI are (1) to promote scientific exchange and research and cultural collaboration between Indonesia and Japan; (2) to encourage establishing collaborative networks between the JSPS alumni with Japanese scholars through organizing scientific meeting and symposia; (3) to conduct social services.
JSPS has 17 Alumni Association all over the world, it is very powerful network between overseas and Japanese scholars. In ASEAN country, Thailand and Philippines already established before Indonesia JAAI.
We had very good opportunity to meet many Indonesian researchers, for example, Dr. Anak Agung Ayu Mirah Adi obtained Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo supported by JSPS scholarship program. Now she is working in University Udayana in Bali and starting to engaged on the New SATREPS program carry on Chiba University and Bogor Agricultural University. it is wonderful case of successful example of Japanese scholarship program connected to other Japan and Indonesian research program.
Dr. Takagi and Prof. Yamashita Director of JSPS Bangkok Office discussed about further collaboration between JSPS Alumni Association. JASTIP activities. JSPS does not want to enclose their network and try to expand through other Japanese scientific activities.
