The 7th JASTIP Symposium “Biodiversity, Genetic Resources and Innovative Bioresource Technology: Toward 2025 Sustainable Use of Biodiversity “
As the same arrangement with the the 6th JASTIP Symposium last year, our 7th Symposium is again held as part of Indonesian Science Expo 2019, the largest scientific event in Indonesia, co-oragnized with Research Center for Biology and for Biomaterials of Indonesian Institute of Science (LIPI) on 24 October 2019 in Tangerang, Indonesia.
Southeast Asia is one of biodiversity hot spots in the world. For example, Indonesia is one of the 17 megadiverse countries and with 2 of the world’s 25 biodiversity hotspots. Wide variation of climate and numerous islands in the region also increased the biodiversity of the region. These high biodiversity can potentially provide rich bioresources and genetic resources. These biodiversity resource is expected to contribute to the sustainable development of the region.
2025 is the target year of ASEAN Vision 2025, the key milestone of 2030 UN agenda of SDGs, whew ASEAN aspires the more sustainable, more effective, and more innovative use of biodiversity.
Based on the above background, the symposium will focuse on the following themes:
