On 18 Sep. 2017, Dr. Takagi attended the 10th GEOSS Asia-Pacific Symposium “Accelerating the realization of the SDGs with Earth Observations: Lessons from the Asia-Oceania Region”  at Hanoi, Vietnam, 18 – 20 September 2017

Dr. Takagi was one of panelist of first day special session “User engagement and communication” Moderated by Prof. Toshio Koike, Director of ICHARM. Other member of panelist from JICA, JAXA, UNESCAP, and APN. Dr. Takagi made a presentation which included the introduction of JASTIP and sent a real voices from filed researchers who use earth observation data especially, biodiversity and disaster prevention research.Finally, JASTIP can connect new international research community called “GEO”.

GEO is a partnership of more than 100 national governments and in excess of 100 Participating Organizations that envisions a future where decisions and actions for the benefit of humankind are informed by coordinated, comprehensive and sustained Earth observations. A central part of GEO’s Mission is to build the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS). GEOSS is a set of coordinated, independent Earth observation, information and processing systems that interact and provide access to diverse information for a broad range of users in both public and private sectors. GEOSS links these systems to strengthen the monitoring of the state of the Earth. It facilitates the sharing of environmental data and information collected from the large array of observing systems contributed by countries and organizations within GEO
