[JASTIP-News]Visited Chiang Mai University
Prof. Shibayama and Dr. Takagi (JASTIP) and Mr.Kobayashi (Japan Science and Technology Agency:JST) visited to the Chiang Mai University January 12 to 14.
Chiang Mai University is a public research university founded in 1964 in northern Thailand.
We made a courtesy call on Associate Professor Rome Chiranukrom, Vice president for International relations and alumni Affairs. We are great appreciated to confirm the collaboration research and activities with Chiang Mai Univ.
In this regards, we had a good opportunity to meet Dr. Chayan Vaddhanaphuti, Director of Regional Center for Social Science and sustainable development (RCSD). The center will host “The 10th international convention of Asia Scholars” in 20-23 July 2017. http://www.icas.asia/icas-10
The International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS) is the largest international gathering in the field of Asian Studies. This is very big opportunity to meet who carry on their academic activities from over 60 countries to engage in global dialogues on Asia that transcend boundaries between academic disciplines. We are going to contact with them and planning to set up exhibition booth or small session.
And we had meeting with Assoc. Prof. Sakda Jongkaewwattana and Dr. Saibua Khempet, Lanna Rice Research Center (LRRC) in Chiang Mai University. LRRC was established in 2012 for research and technology transfer particularly agricultural system. Missions of the center are to support and empower farmers using research based technology in several areas. To apply the Scientific result for Society, LRRC Link with 9 faculties (not only Agriculture) and institute of Chiang Mai University. We are invited Assoc. Prof. Sakda as a discussant in Our Symposium 5 Feb, ask to sharing his particular experience of social implementation.
Finally, we held meeting with Dr. Tanyanuparb Anantana, Director of science and technology park (STEP), Chiang Mai Univ. and Dr. Pitiwat Wattanachai, Deputy Director. STeP is the service center with dedicated and experienced resources for promote and support Chiang Mai university, industry sector and external parties in developing university-industry linkages, collaborative research and development projects, innovations, and other forms technology and knowledge transfer. we also offer to attend our symposium from STEP to introducing us that STEP’s specific role and action to promote a collaboration between Chiang Mai university’s academic research result and Private sector.
Not only JASTIP activities directory, we had promoted other JST activities including E-Asia and SATREPS program. We are going to try connecting Chiang Mai University to Japanese academic society.
We look forward to fruitful and intensive cooperation with Chiang Mai University and JAPAN. Thank you for Chiang Mai University took time and the nice and warm welcomed on this visited.
